Writing

As a final activity we will practise writing.

You're going to work in groups. We're going to organize a trip to Madrid. First of all we need to know about the different places to go. Using the grammar and the vocabulary we've learnt along the unit, this will be what we'll do.

Group nº1: museums, churches, palaces...

Group nº2: shopping (shops, market stalls, ahopping centres...)

Group nº3: restaurants, leisure time...

Group nº4: means of transport and money.

We have to work as a group in order to get a really good time.

The first thing you have to do is making the groups...

Please, let me know as soon as you have made them.

To be continued...

Here you have some links to get information about the city.

Before Huntsville

This is my town, Huntsville. It’s where I live with my family. There are lots of other families in our town. Some are large and some are small. Some families live in houses, like we do. Others live in apartments. We all call this town our home.
This place wasn’t always called Huntsville. Before the town was here, there were people who called this place home. They were American Indians. There was an Indian village right where the main post office is today. The Indians who lived here were Lenapes. The Lenapes were people who lived in what is now New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. They all spoke the same language. They had many of the same customs and clothing.
The Lenapes lived in small villages. Each village was made up of a few families. They grew crops such as corn and beans. They also hunted and fished. They gathered nuts, berries, and other food from the forest.
The Lenapes lived in this place for thousands of years. They were here when the first people from Europe arrived around 1600. In a short time, the Lenapes lost their homes. Some were killed in fighting with the new people. Others were driven away. They moved further west. Today only a few Lenapes still live nearby.

The family's new home town: Filton

They go to Dave's car. Everybody gets in. Dave starts driving.
Dave:
It is a two-hour drive from the airport to your new house.
Anna:
Oh, I can't wait to see our new house!
Pedro:
What colour is it?
Dave:
Your house is yellow.
Anna:
Yellow is my favourite colour!
Maria:
Tell us about our new home town, Dave.
Dave:
Okay. Filton is a small city. There is a high school. It is close to your house. There is also a post office, a train station, a few shops and a cinema.
Andreas:
Sounds good!
They arrive in the city. As they drive along the Main Street, Dave points to a building.
Dave:
Look, this is the post office and over there is the main station. From there, you can take the train to London.
Anna:
And where is our school?
Dave:
Just a moment, Anna, we're almost there.
They keep on driving.
Dave:
Look, there it is. That is your new school and there is a playground just around the corner.
They turn right and Dave stops the car.
Dave:
Here we are! This is your new home!
Maria:
Oh, it's beautiful!
